Our Day

In the morning, parents and children greet each other in Spanish, French, Serbo-Croatian, Japanese, or any one of the many languages spoken on the Island.

Classrooms are filled with materials that encourage discovery and exploration.  Children paint, build block structures, visit the library, join in reading time, cook, sing, and engage in counting and patterning  games that instill early math concepts.

Students play and exercise both in our indoor play area as well as a sunny playground with views of the East River’s parade of colorful tugboats, tankers and barges.

The school keeps parents informed with regular conferences and involved by sending home books, calendars, journals of creative work, newsletters and photos.

When you visit our school you will see children actively engaged in learning and forming lasting relationships with each other and their teachers.
